By now you maybe thinking, "Wait I saw Gluten Free in there". Yes you did. A little back-story:
A few months ago I managed to isolate gluten from my diet and found out it was the source of many of my chronic stomach pains and illnesses. However, my husband is very anti-antigluten, and finds most gluten-free substitutes disgusting. So where does that leave me? Often times making two versions of the same meal if it has any traces of gluten, no never fear! If you're on either side of this fence I have help for you! We're also both lactose intolerant, and he's allergic to raw fruits and veggies. This makes my "dreams of food" sometimes more like a nightmare, but we get through it!
I'm also a very strong advocate of quality not quantity of calories. I will never suggest you eat less then 2000 calories a day, and most meals (while you can make smaller portions) are designed to eat until you're content. I'm a carb junkie, but not all recipes I'll post are high carb, and if you want anything in particular, drop me a comment naming your food dream, and I'll try to help you make it come true!
On this blog you can expect mostly food, but also fun tips and tidbits about my own journey to get healthy and fit. I'm an obstacle course racer (mostly via Spartan Race). I'm also a horse back rider, a runner, and overall just active person (when I can be). "But Kiwii, how can this help me, I work at a desk all day?" I'll tell you how, because I too, for 9 hours every day, work at a desk. Here's my journey through the food and beyond, to help any onlookers achieve what they desire from a healthy lifestyle without sacrificing food!
